Sermon Outline

Intro - In the 1st Century AD, the Temple in Jerusalem was ruled by the Council (Sanhedrin). which consisted of 78 men from 2 Jewish sects, the Pharisees and Saducees. Both groups rejected Jesus and had glaring faults, but tonight we take a brief look at the Saducees, and see why had little to be glad about.

"WHY THE SADUCEES WERE SAD"
Acts 23: 6-8

  • They Didn't Believe in the Resurrection - v. 8a

    • So their Preaching was Empty - I Cor. 6: 14a

    • So their Faith was Empty - v. 14b

    • So They were False Witnesses - V. 15

    • So They were still in Their Sins - Vs. 16-17

    • So they had No Hope - Vs. 18-19

  • They Didn't Believe in Immortality - v. 8b

    • No Heavenly Beings/Angels

    • No Hope

Concl. - No wonder the Saducees were Sad! They didn't believe in Jesus as the Messiah and they denied His Victory over the grave. Just the opposite, we believe in all these things, therefore we have Joy unspeakable and a Hope that is steadfast and sure! The best is yet to come!
